Muna is a vocationally trained General Practitioner as well as Rural Hospital Medicine Generalist. He comes from a strong surgical background which included many years working mainly in General Surgery as well as Cardiothoracic Surgery before switching to General Practice and Rural Hospital Medicine. He also has a keen interest in mental health.

He is passionate about serving the community he works in, as well as those in less privileged areas. And one of his goals in life is to contribute towards building and providing a more equitable healthcare system both in New Zealand and in his home country of Zambia.  

Outside of work, he currently sits on the Council of the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine (DRHM) as well as a member of their Board of Studies, under the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP). He is also involved in community work, as the current the chairperson of their Zambian community within New Zealand, the Zambians in Aotearoa Association (ZIAA).

He lives in Christchurch with his wife and children and loves to travel as opportunities permit
